      The dream conveyed in this book is not small so hopefully I did it justice. It's not every day someone looks to take on a challenge in a place where even the local police and ambulances won't enter. The best way to describe it is going into the jungle to fight a lion with a toothpick but it's a good fight.     Building from Tradition examines the recent resurgence of interest in the handmade building and the use of local and renewable materials in contemporary construction. In the past, raw materials were shaped to provide shelter and to accommodate the cultural, social, and economic needs of individuals and communities. This is still true today as architects, engineers, and builders turn once again. Charity to the poor is equated with "lending to the Lord, and his good deed will He repay unto him" (ibid., 17).
